Still plugging away on the bedroom redo. We made a lot of progress this week.
When I say 'we' I mean Kevin. He made me the most amazing bed!!
Months ago I bought a salvaged wood headboard at a garage sale for $40. Unforturnatly it was a queen size so it went into the Mistress of Junk sale.
(it's that fuzzy thing to the right)
I just couldn't get that bed out of my head, so when some dear friends gifted us with gorgeous hardwood boards my dream became reality.
Here's one of the many reasons I love my husband - he can take what I'm dreaming about and make it happen. And it Always turns out better than I imagined.
Its big, it's grand, it's a focal point.
Along with the bed, the dressers where finished up this week. Here's my recipe for a great DIY project: start with a stripped piece, paint it white, decide you don't like it, and strip it again!
I kept the body white but used some leftover grey paint on the drawer fronts.
I don't always paint hardware but these turned out perfect.
After I stripped most of the paint off the tops I used a liming wax to lighten them up.
I'm super pleased with myself:)
Lastly, I finished one set of windows. The blinds are from Lowes, since these windows face the street I paid a little extra for the blackout lining.
The two windows on either side of the bed still need to be done.
I'm also still hunting for a chair, euro shams, and more lighting. The budget dried up, so it's going to have to wait till payday, or maybe Valentines day?:)))
